Orbitz, Expedia and Priceline are under fire by Counties and Cities in several states for not paying hotel bed taxes. More than 170 Texas cities have won 20-million dollars from Internet Travel Firms. As the economy continues to stagnate, more counties may look to online Travel Companies (OTC) as a source of revenue. They allege the OTC's are paying taxes on the discounted wholesale room rates they pay hotels and not the higher retail rates the online companies resell them for. The Counties are looking to get the difference.
