Mayor Roy Criticizes Steve Coco On KSYL 970

Anonymous cowards continue personal attacks because of this story. One coward called Talkback 970 Thursday morning and said, "Steve Coco is a Jerk", Live on Air.
Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy rushed to the KSYL Radio studio Tuesday morning, apparently in "damage control" mode. Some Alexandria utility customers have been calling about late bills, no bills or no cut-off notice. I have mentioned my bill was high, $432, the highest bill ever.
The mayor said he pulled my records showing my consumption was up and fuel surcharge percentage actually lower than a year ago. That is correct. As a matter of fact, I NEVER said at any time that my bill was WRONG or bogus, I just don't like paying a high utility bill. The mayor also said that I am NEVER right about ANYTHING I say about the City of Alexandria. I consider that statement from Mayor Roy to be an EXTREMELY high compliment. The mayor believes I'm always wrong and he's always right quoting statements out of context and omitting pertinent details. Well, it doesn't matter what Mayor Roy or I think. It matters what the public thinks. It's a matter of credibility and credibility is ascertained by public opinion. What's your opinion? You can hear the mayor's comments on the podcast replay on KSYLdotcom about 45 minutes into the program, or get a condensed version at http://www.cenlapolitics.com/

It appears the Mayor has had it out for you since day one. Instead of running the city, you say he used his time to pull your utility bill and meet you at the station. Come on, this is the last straw!!! It appears he only hears what he wants to hear because you clearly did not say there was an error in your bill. We live in a country where there is free speech and if he cannot handle the heat perhaps, he needs to move on. Stand your ground Steve !!!!!

There are obviously problems with this month’s utility billing and for some reason they are trying to cover it up. They hinted at there might be a problem keeping employees to read the meters. Perhaps this is worth investigating. Could you get an x-meter reader on the show? I would love to get the truth as to why they cannot keep staff. When bills are delayed, they should issue a statement so citizens will not have to worry that their utilities would be cut off.

Absolutely you were Wrong. But fortunately you have lots of company, because the Council, Police Jury, Civil Service, FEMA, Cleco, the media, and anyone else who disagrees with him or his Administration is WRONG. He is RIGHT about EVERYTHING! Just ask him!!

I must admit I was absolutely WRONG also. I voted for this guy. But take heart all you who are wrong, we will learn from our mistakes! I certainly will, with many of you others, when it comes election time!

I have done many regretful things in my lifetime. Like the time the toaster and I took a bubble bath together. But, hand down my BIGGEST regret of all time is purchasing a house in the City of Alexandria. There is nothing that I enjoy more than paying ridiculous utility bills. Well, other than constantly living in fear that my house is going to get broken into or that my wife will get mugged while shopping at the mall!

C’MON MAN!!!!!

My dad told me the reason he moved from Alex back home to Pineville was the insane utility rates... 30 years ago!! And now throw the crime rate up there, as well? I have a friend in Alex and my car was broken in to while at his house ON Jackson Street! Not in some neighborhood... ON the businest thuroughfare of the city. You couldn't pay me to move to the wrong side of the river.

This has nothing to do with high utility bills except to ay that there is NO tax base in Alexandria anymore. They have to bring in revenue from somewhere.
I just watched the news and the city is spending more money on some parks. Ain't in my neighborhood. Guess where? Yep, you guessed it.

Waterslide, I dont think that Coco said that the mayor was the man to complain to about high utility bills, the mayor did that himself. But apparently in addition to his other duties, he reads meters too. He said HE checked on Coco's bill. Must not have much to do. Another question....do you live in Pineville or are you making toast?

This incident confirms that Roy is an immature moron. Instead of sitting around listening to the radio so he can argue with anyone who disagrees with him he should be attending to serious city business.

Anonymous said...

Roy acts like a child and is a cry baby. Can you picture the head of Cleco grabbing a copy of Coco's bill and running down to the radio station?! The Cleco board of directors would fire him in a second which is exactly what the voters of Alexandria should do.

Anonymous said...

Steve, you can't win an argument with a crazy man. Jacques Barack is an absolute control freak. You could complain about the weather in Alexandria and he'd be personally offended. But don't expect him to take responsibility for anything. He was the attorney for the Red River Levee District before he was mayor, but he wants to make the levee decertification Rodney Alexander's problem. There will be no Jacques the Vote this year.

Megalomania

Megalomania (from the Greek word μεγαλομανία) is a historical term for behavior characterized by delusional fantasies of wealth, power, genius, or omnipotence - often generally termed as delusions of grandeur.

The word is a collaboration of the word "mania" meaning madness and the Greek "megalo" meaning "very large", "great", or "exaggerated", thus combining to denote an obsession with, either in the form of irrational perceived need for or preoccupation with in one's own estimation having and/or obtaining, grandiosity and extravagance (especially in the form of great fame and popularity, material wealth, social influence or political power, or more than one or even all of the aforesaid) and accompanying complete desirous and bombastic abandon; a common symptom if not the key diagnostic feature of megalomania.

It may be a symptom of manic or paranoid disorders. However it is not considered a distinct mental disorder of itself according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

The mark of a true leader. Jumps in his car and speeds over to the radio station to whine. Ain't we got a mayor to be proud of. NOT! Next thing you know Roy will be complaining about Coco's Barbecuing.

"I just watched the news and the city is spending more money on some parks."

Sickening isn’t it? This city has gone to shit. I can’t wait to sell my home and move out of this town… Then again… I could always just get my house HUD approved and have the tax payers pay ME every month? Hmmmm…

Anonymous said...

I got my utility bill today,..it was $100 more than last month. They did this last year if I remember right, I think they have to make up some short comings on the collection end of things.
On a side note; The city can kiss my ass at the end of the month, I'm moving out of the city limits and will be on CLECO. This way I will pay no property taxes to this useless place
anymore. The city better start applying for more Federal money, how about an amusement park in the hood? How 'bout a mini-Disney World"?
Werd up!

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the comments on the show about the utility bills. I have 8 rent houses that the meters have not been read in over 3 months. I had to clean off the mud and weeds while doing some work around the houses. Enjoy your show and let me assure you you are not wrong ...

Mayor Roy will be on KSYL radio on Friday. Anybody who has a question about their bill, please call Steve on the Pre-Show on Thursday or Friday and give your information. Then, the mayor can address your problem on the air. Since the mayor already did it as a service to Steve, he could do it for anybody else who doesn't mind having their financial matters discussed on the air. The mayor said he got a $50,000 utility bill. Did the mayor discuss that with David Crutchfield during his annual performance review?

You can see from the above comment the mentality of Mayor Roy's supporters. Nothing to say but attack the messenger. Is that Lamar White or Ken Juneau writing that stuff?

Anonymous said...

Let me get this straight. The former owners of the downtown hotel went bankrupt. The current hotel management are loosing $50,000 a month. And some outfit thinks it can come in with a "global" deal to run 2 hotels when 1 hotel can't make it? Roy needs to study more than Coco's utility bill.

Anonymous said...

Lamar thought it up, Juneau approved it and somebody from New Orleans was hired to print it because it was cheaper to have it done down there.

Anonymous said...

@Anon posting that coco is a jerk

He's not the issue, but let's assume that you are right and he is a jerk. The issue is that we have a mayor who dropped everything and drove to the radio station within an hour of Mr. Coco commenting about his utility bill. This is the kind of freak you want in charge of your money? NOT ME! If Mr. Coco runs, he has my vote.

Anonymous said...

When someone runs their mouth spewing misinformation you're darn right Jacques should clear it up. It took all of 45 mins. Gimme a break. "drop everything"? Pssshh. Not for nothing but Coco is a FOUNTAIN OF MISINFORMATION. If he wants to think that his beef with the mayor of Alex is the only reason someone would have a bad thing to say about him...he need to take a good long look in the mirror. Jerk4Life

What a shame. Roy was such a good candidate to have become such an arrogant and incapable administrator. Clearly we did not want more of the Randolph group so we did the right thing but now maybe we better rethink the deal.

Miss Manners said...

Why does it not surprise me that every commentary in this area degenerates to an elementary level with no one discussing real solutions? Egomania destroys the fabric of society and makes no room for civil discourse while to assert etiquette is important is akin to howling at a hurricane.

Anonymous said...

All of you need something better to do. If you don't like the way things are going in our city, then get out and work to change it. I think that the owners of KSYL are not helping this city one bit. They are just providing a place where all the nuts out there can sprew there venoum

Anonymous said...

To the above post might I say...

AMEN AMEN and AMEN!

Anonymous said...

The jerk posts have nothing at all to do with Jacques Roy, Lamar White or Ken Juneau. Why Steve would delete that is beyond me. It's as though he lives for controversy.

Mr. Coco, I have a suggestion. This was a very popular post and it's obviously because citizens have concerns about their local government. Would you consider an open post on the Roy administration? Then we could just discuss the success and failures of the Roy administration. Afterall, we should be about the message and not the messenger. It would be a great public service! You could call it:

Open Thread on Roy Administration or

Roy Administration: Yea or Nay? or

Name 3 good things that have happened in Alexandria since 2006 or

What bothers you most about Alexandria and why? or

Who thinks their flood insurance isn't going up and who is to blame for that? or

Will Versailles Boulevard Ext. ever be completed? or

Who's excited about SPARQ and issuing bonds to pay for it? or

Will you live to see the final settlement of the Cleco deal?

These are just a few examples. :-D

Anonymous said...

Maybe Steve Coco should run for Mayor. I promise that given the choice of Jaques Roy or Von Jennings, I would have to choose Roy.

Anonymous said...

All Coco said was that his bill was high and didnt like it. Nobody does. How does that make him a jerk? Roy gets his panties in a wad if Coco breathes wrong. The citizens are the ones that have been calling in complaining about late, or no bills at all.

Anonymous said...

I can't think of ONE thing that Steve Coco has ever done that makes him qualified to be the Mayor of Alexandria. Just showing for a news program and excepting a punity paycheck for years just doesn't cut it. Think about it people. P.S. This is not the first city administration that had problems at times with the distribution of our utility bills. Get over it.

Anonymous said...

That's why this area is the way it is, KILL THE MESSENGER!
Why doesn't any polititian understand, just do what is right, do it for the people, quit using your office to make yourself bigger than you really are.
If one polititian would do this, they would never have to worry about re-election.
But, back to reality....

Anonymous said...

Who the eff is trying to "KILL THE MESSENGER"? Messenger of WHAT exactly...a few late utility bills?!?!?! C'mon man...this is CLASSIC COCO BS!

GO AWAY STEVE...FAR FAR AWAY!!!!!!

Gossipmonger said...

Yeah! Of what juicy tid-bit are you the messenger? Sound like your the mouthpiece of a few seniors with a little to mucht ime on their hands. Get real loser. You're no messenger. You're just a gossip.

Anonymous said...

"This is not the first city administration that had problems at times with the distribution of our utility bills. Get over it."

That statement is the core of what is wrong with this city. Roy supporters are just more of the same.

Anonymous said...

You're all so self righteous, so important in your own mind. You're way is the right way. Oh, but let one thing you don't agree with happen and it's all hands on deck because you're special, you're somebody and this shouldn't happen to you. You know people, don't they know who you are?
You are a typical loser of this town that has the BIG head!

↑↑↑↑ That post is for you Steveie boy ↑↑↑↑

Steve Coco likes the sound of his own voice. He also likes the look of his face in the mirror. He is just full of himself. I agree, he is a typical loser of this town and has been for long time.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the poster about the "KILL THE MESSENGER" mentality. I also take note that Mr. Coco has not gotten into any name calling, but most of the pro-Roy posters on here have derided Mr. Coco rather than defending Mayor Roy. Look at the post just above this one. Typical loser? Let's focus on the message. Let's focus on the problem. Or, if you don't think we have problems, please educate me as to why the Roy administration has been a success.

Anonymous said...

Completely agree with the last message. Don't Kill the Messenger. Rather educate me on the success of this Administration. In Mayor Roy's "State of the City" report he delivered in December, he felt that "the way that we do business in the city of alexandria" was one of his greatest accomplishments. He certainly is entitiled to feel that way. However, after 3 years in office most would hope for more. Cleco is still unresolved, hotels lay idle, and most important according to his own IACP report Violent Crime for 2009 "looks to be equal to the 2005 spike" So violent crime in alexandria is worse now than when he came in office. Other sources state Alexandria is safer than 2% of the cities in the U.S. and that we rank 6th nationally compared to 300 other metropolitan areas in violent crime.

Anonymous said...

THe Mayor and the City Council are a JOKE PERIOD.
This area is a laughing stock.
Name other cities in this state that have a river flowing through the middle of it that do not have some development along that river to draw people and businesses to that area,...think about it. This damn town will not do anything without some kind of Federal aid and then that is only for a select group. Wake up Alexandria.

Ideologically speaking, there is a c*** hair's difference between Mayor Roy and Myron Lawson or Ed Larvadain. Hell, Jacques is probably more liberal since he's against stuff like baggy pants laws and is pushing this multi-million dollar tax-payer financed Stockyard public housing flop against black residents' wishes.

Anonymous said...

What do Jacques Roy and the Vancouver Olympic Torch have in common?

Neither reach their full potential and both end in a fiery blaze.

Anonymous said...

They should have gone all out and put a water park at the Stockyards!
